2030 Comprehensive Plan Approval and Update Process
On January 15, 2008, the Planning Commission recommended approval of Farmington’s 2030 Comprehensive Plan – 2008 Update Draft. The City Council subsequently approved the draft on February 12, 2008, and directed staff to forward the plan to surrounding communities for the six-month review and comment period. The Planning Commission reviewed the comments on October 28, 2008, and the City Council approved the final plan on November 17, 2008, and forwarded to the Metropolitan Council for consideration and final approval. The Metropolitan Council approved the plan on March 11, 2009 with official City Council approval on April 20, 2009.
On November 19, 2012, the City Council approved the 2030 Comprehensive Plan - 2011 Amendment and placed it into effect. The major components to the 2011 Amendment include adding information regarding the 2010 Census data, a transportation study, and a new chapter on sustainability.
