General Accounting
General Accounting Services is responsible for the reporting and accounting of all financial matters of the City. General accounting activities include accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger. Significant financial management of all City funds includes the General Fund, Special Revenue Funds, Debt Service Funds and Capital Project Funds. The department also manages the financial accounting for City enterprise funds consisting of Water, Storm Water, Solid Waste, Sanitary Sewer, Street Light and Liquor Store. The investment of City funds is also managed by the department to ensure the City receives the best possible rate of return while preserving financial capital. In addition to basic financial management operations, the department supports the plans and objectives of the City by providing financial information on proposed public projects. In addition, the department assists in the preparation of the City Budget, Capital Improvement Planning and project cost accounting.
