Individual Parks Master Plans
The City began a public process in 2003 to develop a master plan for each City park. Master plans are 15-20 year plans providing a vision and direction for amenities and facilities that will remain or be added to parks based on the public input. Master plans have been approved by the City Council for 20 of the 23 City parks. New amenities added to the parks depend on the level of funding available. Some parks have new amenities and facilities constructed that were identified in the original master plan. The intent of creating the master plans is not to create a plan that remains in place forever but rather a plan with a 7-8 year review process; to make sure the amenities that have been constructed in parks and/or new amenities not yet constructed, are consistent with the needs of the public.
